CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

10 time winners of Rwanda Champions league APR cruised to a 1-0 victory over reigning African champions TP Mazembe – DRC at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali yesterday.

Only one late goal secured victory for the APR at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali.

APR intensified attacks on TP Mazembe’s goal and midway into the second half their strikers combined well upfront but profligate finish cost them dearly.

The Rwandan Champions dominated the game but had to wait until the 88th minute before youngster Albert Ngabo broke the deadlock.

As expected, the Stadium was packed to the brim and record breaking revenue is anticipated. Many fans were pleased to see a thrilling encounter and were left satisfied with the performance of Rwandan Stars- APR FC.

The match attracted thousands of fans, many glued to their television sets to follow the action from recreation centres or their residences.

H.E President Paul Kagame, APR Honorary President Gen. James Kabarebe and TP Mazembe President Moise Katumbi were at the stadium as the TP Mazembe took to the pitch with their top players led by their marksman Tressor Mputu upfront.

Mputu, Given Singuluma, Kabangu Mulotapatou and other big names featured in the match, much to the satisfaction of the home fans who had longed to see them through with their naked eyes.

The return leg will be played on the weekend of April 3-4 in Kinshasa-DRC.
